The Writing Life is a work of nonfiction written by Annie Dillard. Dillard explains in depth her life and all the writing that she does. She compares writing to things one wouldn’t usually compare writing to. Such as this example on page two: “The line of words is a hammer. You hammer against the walls of your house…” Dillard also tells about her life in an autobiographical way and explains some of the influences on her writing.
