Stephen King’s On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, is a book meant to inform the reader how to write well and how to become a better writer. It is divided into three sections. The first section is about Stephen King’s life. This portion of the book tells the reader what helped develop King’s writing style . This is basically and autobiography. The second section is “Toolbox”. The toolbox is what all writers must have. Every writer has a toolbox and King tell’s a little about what he has in his toolbox and what every writer should have in their own toolbox. The third section is “On Writing”. In this part of the book, King dives in and tells the reader about his run in with a car and his struggle to recover and get back into writing. King also adds a rough draft of one of his stories and shows the reader the editing he did. King uses humor to draw the audience in during the first section and lets the humor carry the reader through the book.
