My Friend Leonard Annotated Bibliography

Frey, James. My friend Leonard. New York: Riverhead Books, 2005. Print.

My Friend Leonard is a touching story about a man and his friend. Written by James Frey, this book is in a way an autobiography. Although some of the facts in the book may be exaggerated, the emotion portrayed is no less moving. During the book, James is a man probably in his late 20’s or early 30’s with a problem: drugs and alcohol. Those two problems land him in a jail and rehab. In rehab he meets a girl and falls in love. The girl eventually commits suicide and leave James depressed. James overcomes this depression with the help of his father-figure Leonard who is, in fact, a mobster.
